Kiritina's Patagonik House was even better then the photos and description showed. We were warmly welcomed and found the place comfortable and very clean. Even their cats and dogs welcomed us like long lost friends! (outdoors only they are, never allowed inside). The kitchen was stocked with breakfast supplies, milk, butter, yogurt and home made jams. Bread, crackers, muffins and cerial. A nice variety of teas available and fresh ground coffee for coffee maker. The trees provided shelter from the breeze for the lovely outdoor sitting area and Maria let us harvest some fresh peas from her garden to cook with our supper. As the city has recently done some street renaming, but not yet updated the local road maps, we will give Maria the GPS Lat-Long of her house so she can tell people how to find her place using (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) Earth or using a personal GPS. Local neighbourhood very safe. It is a new suburb with great views of the local mountains. Thus some empty lots around the place, making you feel you are out in the country. It is only a 10-14 minute walk to the supermarket with good food selection. Food prices roughly same as in Canada. They do take credit cards. It is a 30 minute down hill walk into the center of El Calafete and Maria provided a nice map. Taxi back up the hill was only 47 Pesos and the drivers would take us if we told them we are staying in a "hostel" (the language barrier made it hard to explain we were staying in a B&B so we told them "hostel"). Having Maria's map helped them to get us there. Again, the local gov't renaming streets but not yet updated the maps. BTW, local cabbie's very polite and good driving skills. Change given rounded up to the nearest even Peso as 2 Peso is smallest note. Nice kitchen equipped for two people. Toaster, coffee machine, sandwich maker, fondue pot, fridge. Gas oven and stove with excellent fume/exhaust hood. No microwave oven but we did not need it as we were cooking fresh. Washing machine for cloths tucked under the counter. We hung to dry on the towel rack. Excellent high speed internet link to check on our flights with. A nice quiet place for short or long stay in El Calafate, away from the hustle and noise of the downtown area. We will be staying here on our next visit to El Calafete.
